Radon Levels Over 700 Bq/m³?

2 min read

Recently tested your home and found radon levels over 700 Bq/m³? You're not alone. Elevated radon levels are found in homes throughout Calgary and Alberta, and fortunately, they can be significantly reduced with a properly designed radon mitigation system.

Is 700 Bq/m³ High?

Yes. Health Canada's guideline for radon is 200 Bq/m³. If your long-term test result is above this level, Health Canada recommends taking action to reduce your exposure.

Radon is an invisible, odourless radioactive gas that comes naturally from the ground. It can enter your home through cracks, sump pits, construction joints and other openings in the foundation.

How Is High Radon Reduced?

One of the most effective methods is active soil depressurization. A radon mitigation system uses a suction point, piping and a specialized fan to draw radon-containing soil gas from beneath the home and safely discharge it outside before it can enter your living space.

At Safe Home Radon Solutions, we also perform sub-slab communication testing to understand airflow beneath the foundation and help determine the appropriate system design and fan for your home.

Choosing a Radon Mitigation Company

When looking for a radon mitigation company in Calgary, consider more than just price. Look for a C-NRPP certified radon professional, proper diagnostic testing, warranties, post-mitigation testing and a clear explanation of how the system will be designed.

Every home is different, so your radon mitigation system should be designed specifically for your property.
